Pim Cuijpers

Pim Cuijpers is a PhD Clinical Psychology at the University of Amsterdam (Vrije University, Amsterdam, Netherlands) and responsible for the Department of Clinical Psychology. Additionally, Pim Cuijpers is the vice-director of EMGO Institute for Health and Care Research at the University of Amsterdam (VU) and the VU University Medical Center. The aim of the Research Project of the Clinical Psychology Department is to promote knowledge about the development of mental disorders and their psychological treatment. Pim Cuijpers focuses on psychological processes that contribute for the development of mental disorders and how these processes can be influenced by psychological intervention. He also performs experimental research and randomized trials and, in this scope he focuses on prevention and premature intervention in common mental disorders. One of his research interests is related to internet interventions for the most common mental disorders and the stepped care treatment (Stepped Care model). The research is performed at the Department of Clinical Psychology at the EMGO Institute for Health and Care Research.

Pim Cuijpers has published more than 350 peer-reviewed articles, as well as book chapters, professional publications about epidemiology, etiology, treatment and prevention for depression, and also guided self-help for depression. He is also involved in meta-analysis studies about psychotherapy for adults suffering from depression.
