Psychology Center at the University of Porto

The mission and the main aim of the Psychology Center at the University of Porto is to generate production of knowledge for a better comprehension of determining factors for the development of inclusive societies, specifically gender, education, training, work, health and development, which allow the change and correction of imbalances. In this sense, research covers different domains in Psychology, namely:

  • Social and scientific community awareness through the dissemination of the publications, congresses and seminars.
  • The optimization of the public and private entities’ contributions, through the development of studies with different target populations and multidisciplinary knowledge.
  • Connection between basic and applied research, focusing on knowledge transfer to practice in context by proposing best solutions on outcome research;
  • Conducting assessmentdvisory and consultancy work as well as monitoring inter-institutional relations and community services;
  • The establishment of partnerships, consortia and national and international networks to increase new opportunities in science; the creation of conditions for the training of young researchers; sedimentation of a strong connection to the Doctoral Program of the host institution (FPCEUP) and other post-graduate training;
  • Promoting the functioning of own means of disclosure of scientific activity.

The approach values different theoretical and methodological frameworks, enhancing the enrichment of knowledge.
